Cheru Payar Tuvara Parippu Curry
Ingredients :
Toor Dal/Tuvara Parippu > 2 tbp
Green gram /Cheru Payar > 2 tbp
Grated coconut > 1/4cup
Green Chilly > 2
Garlic > 2
Shallots /kunjulli > 2
Turmeric Powder > 1pinch
Dry Red Chilly > 1
Mustard Seeds > 1/2tsp
Perum Jeerakam/Fennel Seed > 1/2tsp
Curry Leaf > 1stem
Oil > 1tbp
Salt to taste
Method:
- Heat a pan, add toor dal and green gram and roast it till it turns slightly brown color. Then switch off the flame and add perum jeerakam, and transfer it to a plate and allow it to cool. Then grind it into fine powder or coarse.
- Transfer the powder into a pan, add enough water, mix well then then cook it in medium flame. Make sure to stir it occasionally.
- Grind grated coconut, 1garlic, turmeric, green chilly, 1shallot to fine paste. Add the coconut paste, salt and mix well. Once it starts to boil and the raw smell of coconut is removed you can switch off the flame.
- In another small pan add oil , mustard seeds, when it crackle add 1 shallots, 1 garlic and sauté it till the color changes to light brown now switch off the flame and add dry red chilly & curry leaves. Pour this into the parippu curry.
Serve it with rice or chapatti or rice.
Note:-
You don’t need to cook it for a long time since the ingredients are roasted and powdered.
If you are serving it with chapatti add some chopped coriander leaves.
